“Knowing that my work contributes to improving Hong Kong society gives me a huge sense of purpose and fulfilment. It was the Club’s charity commitment and its prestigious reputation that led me to join just over a year ago. I have had all my expectations confirmed in that time – through engaging, challenging IT projects that have made a real impact.

I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate widely since joining. The Club’s diverse wagering activities span football and horse racing and involve multiple internal disciplines. Analysing these complex needs and working with other professionals to devise effective IT solutions has been immensely satisfying. And as a football fan, mixing business with pleasure has been fun, too!

I’m particularly pleased that I’ve been able to make a quick impact. In the relatively short time that I’ve been here I’ve implemented tangible process improvements, which have translated into higher productivity. That all starts with the collaborative culture the Club fosters and our use of team-based tools and solutions.

I look at myself now and when I joined, and I’m very conscious that my communication skills have moved up a level. I’m more adept at working with other departments, all of which is a testament to the trainer-led courses and digital learning platforms the Club provides. As long as you’ve the drive, there’s everything you need here to keep learning and growing. For me, the Project Management Professional workshops were particularly beneficial, but there’s a channel for everyone, whatever their learning style.

Finally, I want to mention the support the Club gives me as an expat. I was made to feel immediately welcome through the Buddy programme and access to the Club’s social and sporting activities. And even more importantly, my family is provided for, too, with an allowance and medical cover. That provides great peace of mind – which is impossible to put a price on.”
