Job Summary

The job holder will be required to undergo a 4 year and 3-month Farrier Training Program including weekly English and Fitness lessons. This program will cover all aspects of farriery, and upon completion the candidate will be a competent Farrier that is responsible for providing a high standard of farriery care for Equestrian Services. He / She must be willing to travel to different riding schools in HK as well as the HKJC training facility in Conghua, China.

The Job

• Provide support to the Farriers in:
  • Ensuring all horses under their care are well trimmed, balanced, and shod with the appropriate material and technique.
  • Maintaining good communication and effective professional relationships with respective stables and other staff in the HKJC over farrier-related issues
  • Handling horses with care and working in a safe and correct manner at all times
• Acquire and enhance knowledge and skills of farriery on the job and through self-study
• Acquire basic knowledge of equine anatomy, forging skills, hoof balance, and common ailments and engage in ongoing education

About You

• Completed Secondary 5 or equivalent
• Horse handling experience is an advantage but not essential
• Equipped with high integrity, self-discipline, energy, teamwork attitude, good time management and interpersonal skills with willingness to learn
• Basic understanding of English; it would be an advantage as there will be possible opportunities to train overseas
