Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement.  With Conghua Racecourse and Greater Bay Area expansion, we’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.

The Department

The Farrier Services Department provides dedicated farrier services to all race horses at the Shatin Racecourse and the Conghua Racecourse as well as all equestrian horses at the Beas River Equestrian Centre, Public Riding Schools, and Private Riding Schools in Hong Kong.

The team is committed to provide a skilled local workforce in both Hong Kong and Conghua through an extensive 51-month HKCAAVQ-accredited Farrier Training Program.

The Job

• Be prepared to commit to a 4-year-3-month Farrier Training Program
• Receive supervisory support to complete practical and theoretical training
• Be required to pass all competency assessments upon completion of each year before proceeding to the next level
• Travel to different riding schools and racecourses in HK and China

About You

• Complete Form 5 or above
• Have a minimum of 1 year of working experience
• Horse handling experience is an advantage but not essential
• Equipped with high integrity, self-discipline, energy, teamwork attitude, good time management and interpersonal skills with willingness to learn
• Basic understanding of English; it would be an advantage as there will be possible opportunities to train overseas
