Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for the regular cultivation and upkeep of the horticulture of the facility, such as watering, planting, pruning, and fertilizing the plants, etc., and assists line manager in arranging the green spaces and flora around the facility.

Major Tasks

Tasked with the cultivation and upkeep of the green spaces and flora surrounding the racecourse, ensuring that the grounds are not only functional for race operations but also aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound. This job involves a comprehensive understanding of plant biology, soil science, and landscape design to maintain healthy turfgrass, ornamental plants, and trees that meet the specific requirements of the racing environment. The job holder develops and implements horticultural programs, including planting, pruning, pest and disease management, and seasonal adjustments. They work closely with the track maintenance team to ensure that the vegetation contributes positively to track conditions and overall track safety. Their responsibilities also encompass water management and sustainability practices to promote ecological health of the racecourse ecosystem. The Horticulture Specialist must balance the practical needs of the track with creating visually appealing landscapes that enhance the experience for patrons and participants at the racecourse.
