(Assistant) Finance Manager (CAPEX & Fixed Assets)
Job Summary
The Assistant Finance Manager / Manager, Finance will oversee CAPEX accounting and fixed asset management for assigned business portfolios, with particular support to Membership-related operations and capital investment projects. The role acts as a trusted finance business partner to project teams and stakeholders, ensuring sound financial governance across the project lifecycle from project setup and completion review to capitalization, transfer, disposal and annual reporting.
The position is expected to strengthen CAPEX governance, maintain robust fixed asset controls, support audit and financial reporting requirements, and drive process improvement, automation and data quality enhancements within the Finance function.
The Job
1. CAPEX Accounting and Project Lifecycle Management
- Manage end-to-end CAPEX accounting activities, including project code creation, record updates, closures, expenditure monitoring and timely capitalization of completed assets.
- Review asset transfers, disposals, retirements and write-offs to ensure proper accounting treatment, policy compliance and accurate master data.
- Provide practical accounting advice to project managers, Finance Business Partners and business stakeholders on CAPEX-related matters.
2. Financial Reporting, Analysis and Controls
- Prepare periodic CAPEX reports, management analyses, journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
- Monitor project spending against approved fundings, identify potential financial risks or control issues.
- Ensure financial records are accurate, timely and compliant with accounting standards, corporate policies and audit requirements.
3. Fixed Asset Governance and Compliance
- Maintain effective fixed asset controls, coordinate annual fixed asset verification exercises and follow up on missing, obsolete, impaired or underutilized assets.
- Prepare fixed asset movement consolidation schedules and supporting analyses for annual financial reporting and audit purposes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing clear documentation, analysis and explanations.
4. Business Partnering, Process Improvement and Leadership
- Act as the primary Finance contact for assigned portfolios and build effective working relationships with project teams, operational departments and key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to streamline CAPEX and fixed asset management processes through standardization, automation, system enhancement and data analytics.
- Develop operating procedures, user guides and training materials, and support knowledge sharing and mentoring within the Finance team.
- Promote strong governance, risk awareness and internal control standards across the CAPEX portfolio.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; professional accounting qualification such as HKICPA, ACCA, CPA Australia or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with solid exposure to CAPEX accounting, project accounting, fixed asset management or financial reporting.
- Experience in large and complex organizations with significant capital investment programs is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting Membership, hospitality, hotel, catering, clubhouse, leisure, property or customer-facing business operations is an advantage.
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HKFRS, fixed asset accounting, project accounting and internal control principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, financial reporting and data analysis capabilities, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as Oracle.
- Strong business partnering, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
