(Assistant) Manager, Finance (Corporate Financial P&A)

The Division

The Finance Division is a key business partner, balancing oversight with support. The Department

The job holder will be responsible for assisting accurate and in-depth financial analysis to support effective management decision making at the Club-wide level. This job holder resides within Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and is responsible for assisting the Club's financial planning and reporting including providing efficient and comprehensive budgeting, quarterly forecast as well as management reporting process that aligns with the Club-wide strategic and operational objectives. In recent years, the Club has experienced significant expansion and increased complexity in its operations. The breadth and significance of the Club's strategic projects will see this trend continue. It is strategically important that the Finance Division has the structure, capability and agility to ensure that strategic and operational decisions of the Board of Management are made with reference to financial insight, discipline and governance. To achieve this, the Executive Director, Finance has initiated a program to strengthen the Club's corporate finance. Collaborating with the broader finance team and under the direction of the direct manager Deputy Executive Manager - Group Planning and Reporting, the job holder Finance Manager - Group Planning and Reporting will be the integral member to deliver a programme of financial process re-engineering across the finance teams within the Club (including, where possible, a focus on process efficiency, standardisation and automation) to establish and maintain best practices in end-to-end finance processes, systems and management reporting to better align business income and business activities to enable intelligent decision making, leading to a culture of continuous improvement.

The Job

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    1. Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financials for management with variance analysis.
    2. Perform analysis for Clubwide and divisional levels and provide timeline updates to management for actionable insights.
    3. Perform analysis following ad-hoc requests from management.
    4. Assist in exercising overall budgetary control on a Clubwide basis, monitoring overall financial performance, and identifying and analyzing major budget variances and trend deviations from divisions/operations.
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting
    1. Communicate an integrated budget planning process with a comprehensive timeline to stakeholders.
    2. Assist in preparing budget communication workshops for budget holders on processes and guidelines.
    3. Facilitate budget reviews with analysis and follow up on action items and required additional reviews.
    4. Assist in drafting the Budget Key Assumptions Paper for BOM and Finance and General Purposes Committee review.
    5. Assist in drafting the Final Budget Paper for BOM and Finance and General Purposes Committee review.
  • Long Term and Short Term Cashflow Management
    1. Perform short and long-term cash flow projections to support Treasury on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensure a High Standard of Financial Planning and Analysis throughout the Club
    1. Manage quarterly financial forecast and review rhythms to track and drive forecast accuracy.
    2. Coordinate and provide guidelines to FPandA teams to generate regular and ad-hoc financial reports/projections and management information.
    3. Provide accurate and timely reviews to management with analysis on the Clubwide performance and outlook.

About You

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines with a recognized accounting qualification, e.g. CPA.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the finance/accounting industry with knowledge of financial planning and analysis.
  • Financial modeling and activity-based financial analysis experience is an asset.
  • Experience working in organizations with diverse operations and dealing with multiple stakeholders is beneficial.
