Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Corporate Affairs (CA) Division strengthens the strategic development and positioning of the Club as a world-class racing club and charity organisation, through engaging key stakeholders in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, and maintaining efficient and effective corporate communications.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs (Corporate & Charities Communications) (“HoPA(CCC)”), the job holder is responsible for developing and implementing brand strategy, governance and identity, and for enabling business units to create impactful brand communications that are aligned with the HKJC parent brand. This incumbent also undertakes other special projects as assigned by HoPA(CCC).
The Job
- Brand leadership and governance
- Lead and integrate the Brand Management team, including Brand, Archives, HVRC Racing Museum and Creative Services, ensuring clear structure, roles and accountabilities.
- Act as brand custodian and develop a contemporary, customer‑centric brand strategy and architecture that supports HKJC’s positioning as a leading global sports entertainment brand.
- Own and continuously enhance brand identity, governance frameworks and guidelines to ensure consistent application of core brand elements across all channels and touchpoints.
- Brand strategy and campaigns
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Department on brand (re)positioning and representation of the HKJC corporate brand in Hong Kong, and contribute to its future development in Mainland China and other key markets.
- Lead the development of corporate brand campaigns, using in‑house, market and audience insights to refine brand communication approaches and core messages for key customer and stakeholder segments.
- Manage brand assets, toolkits, templates and digital brand platforms, working with the internal creative team to keep all assets up to date and easy to deploy across the Club.
- Archives, Museum and Creative Services
- Lead the Archives team, setting clear responsibilities, escalation and decision‑making processes and overseeing storage, preservation, digitalisation and related investments
- Oversee the Racing Museum at Happy Valley Racecourse, ensuring smooth operations and periodic revamps to deliver engaging exhibits and experiences.
- Lead the Creative Services team to deliver high‑quality design solutions to internal clients in line with brand guidelines and business priorities.
- People, budget and stakeholder management
- Manage the Brand Management team’s annual budget, including allocations for the Racing Museum and Archives operations, ensuring effective use of resources and procurement compliance.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and peers across the Club so that the Brand Management team is recognised as the centre of excellence for brand, archives, museum and creative services.
- Develop holistic plans and project roadmaps that align internal teams and business units behind shared brand objectives and transformation goals.
- Lead, coach and develop team members; foster a culture of purpose, collaboration, innovation and open communication, supported by clear performance metrics and regular feedback.
- Special projects and change
- Lead agreed scope within strategic or special projects related to brand, archives, museum or creative services, often with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Champion best practices, trends and new technologies in branding and customer experience, and support change initiatives that enhance HKJC’s brand presence and governance
- Undertake other duties and ad hoc projects including various Club-wide projects as assigned by HoPA(CCC). The job incumbent is required to actively participate in Club-wide projects that involve multiple divisions/departments within the Club and external stakeholders.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree; master degree or MBA desired
- At least 15 years’ of relevant experience in branding, marketing and communications in multi-nationals or conglomerates
- Track record of planning, developing and managing large scale of 360-degree marketing campaigns in particular experiential and interactive marketing that involves not only consumers but the general public
- Experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams (e.g. brand, creative, archives, museum or related functions) and managing significant budgets.
- Strong competencies in translating strategies into effective communication frameworks, campaigns and executions
- Highly organised, with strong planning, prioritisation and execution skills across multiple concurrent projects in a resource‑constrained context.
- High competence in both digital and traditional brand and marketing disciplines
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written (in both English and Chinese), for effective communications to all levels of management, staff and external parties
