The Hong Kong Jockey Club
Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Department
Assess and review donation applications and support preparation of approval papers; to conduct research on social issues and new initiatives to meet the community needs; to plan and monitor implementation of Charities projects, and to liaise and maintain professional relationships with external partners. Support development of TIPs, Priority 1 and other special projects.
The Job

Assess and review donation applications’ support-worthiness, including analysis of the social issues, the applicant’s background, the reasonableness, feasibility and impact of the proposed programme content and budget. To liaise with applicants on proposals vetting and handle relevant administrative work. Support Executives / Assistant Executives in drafting of donation papers and annexes.

Support initiation, development and stakeholder engagement of Trust-initiated Projects, and other significant special projects. Responsible for supporting annual donation of $400-500 million related to these projects.

Conduct research on social issues and new initiatives, to support development of new projects or theme/issue strategies. Activities include literature review, industry/sector data analysis, in-house or externally managed surveys and focus groups, discussion with potential project partners, etc.

Monitor (or support Assistant Executive to monitor) approved projects to ensure that they are implemented and completed according to schedule, pledged output and within the original agreed scope and budget. Assess project change requests (virements) and prepare documentations for internal approvals.

Liaise with external partners (e.g. grant applicants, grantees, consultants) and internal counterparts (e.g. Finance, Procurement, IT) throughout different stages of project lifecycle.

Participate in ad-hoc projects and prepare presentation materials, speeches, miscellaneous papers.

Organise or support organising of Charities team initiatives (e.g. retreats, planning and execution of stakeholder engagement activities)
About You
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 4-8 years' relevant experience, preferably with exposure to NGOs, Government, policy research, or public and social service settings
- Good communication skills (in both English and Chinese)
- Excellent English and Chinese writing skills
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Passionate, strong drive, and career interest in charity work
