Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Department
Assess and review donation applications and support preparation of approval papers; to conduct research on social issues and new initiatives to meet the community needs; to plan and monitor implementation of Charities projects, and to liaise and maintain professional relationships with external partners. Support development of TIPs, Priority 1 and other special projects.
The Job
- Assess and review donation applications' support-worthiness, analyzing social issues, the applicant's background, and the feasibility of proposed program content and budget. Liaise with applicants on proposals vetting and handle relevant administrative work, supporting Assistant Executives in preparing and drafting approval papers and annexes.
- Conduct research on social issues and new initiatives to support the development of new projects or theme/issue strategies, including literature reviews, industry/sector data analysis, surveys, focus groups, and discussions with potential project partners.
- Monitor approved projects to ensure implementation according to schedule, pledged outputs, and within the original agreed scope and budget. Assess project change requests and prepare documentation for internal approvals.
- Liaise with external partners (e.g., grant applicants, grantees, consultants, vendors) and internal counterparts (e.g., Finance, Procurement, IT) throughout different stages of the project lifecycle.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and prepare presentation materials, speeches, and miscellaneous papers.
- Organize or support the organization of Charities team initiatives, such as Culture Transformation, retreats, and stakeholder engagement activities.
About You
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 4-8 years' relevant experience, preferably with exposure to NGOs, Government, policy research, or public and social service settings
- Good communication skills (in both English and Chinese)
- Excellent English and Chinese writing skills
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Passionate, strong drive, and career interest in charity work
