Manager, Charities (IoP - Mainland & Global Event Management)

The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Department

The role supports the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP) in fulfilling its mission as a “think‑fund‑do” tank and in advancing its Founding Funders’ (i.e. the Club’s and its Charities Trust’s) vision to be a world‑class charity and community benefactor. The position contributes to the development of philanthropic thought leadership and strengthens IoP’s presence locally, regionally, and internationally through the effective planning and execution of events, programmes, and stakeholder engagements.

The Job

  • Support Assistant Executives and lead a small team, in collaboration with external partners and vendors, to organise events, seminars, high level dialogues, fireside chats, and side programmes at major regional and international fora and multilateral platforms;
  • Support Assistant Executives in designing and executing the Philanthropic Partners Visit Programme, aimed at engaging esteemed IoP partners through curated visits to Hong Kong, deepening their understanding of IoP’s mission and work, and fostering collaboration with institutions and partners;
  • Coordinate comprehensive travel and logistical arrangements for internal and external guests, delegates, and speakers from Hong Kong SAR, Chinese Mainland and overseas, including arrangement of travel, accommodation, transportation, visa requirements, itinerary planning, etc.;
  • Oversee and manage internal procurement and administrative processes related to event management, production, travel logistics, and the development of publicity materials;
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, partners, and consultants (both local and overseas) to leverage expertise and resources for delivering high quality events, seminars, high level dialogues, fireside chats, and side programmes at regional and international platforms, fostering synergy through effective cross team coordination;
  • Work closely with the IoP Programme Development and Management Team to provide support on event organisation, business travel, VIP and guest reception, and related communications; and
  • Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor to support overall team and organisational objectives.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in international event management and production, the hospitality industry, creative and content development, or other related fields.
  • Detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and lead a small team in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in both English and Chinese.
  • Passion, strong drive, and professional interest in philanthropy and event management.
  • Willingness to undertake business travel as required for event and programme execution.
