Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The People and Organisational Development (P&OD) Division is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic workplace culture that attracts, develops, and retains exceptional talent. The division serves as trusted advisor across the organization, aligning people practices with business goals to drive performance, innovation, and employee engagement.
The Department
The Employee Communications Manager plays a key role in driving communication of the Club's change agenda and community engagement to facilitate active two-way dialogue tailored to the Club's unique culture and diverse operations across Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
The Job
- Develop program execution plans and implement tracking mechanisms that support understanding and engagement of organisational change and promote our ways of working across office and frontline staff in HK and Chinese Mainland.
- Provide clear, engaging and customised communication to leaders and employee groups on program progress and impact, considering cultural nuances and relevancy.
- Act as community manager, managing and nurturing digital communities across platforms (e.g., Teams, WhatsApp, WeChat, and equivalents), fostering interaction, moderating discussions, and driving active participation among diverse employee groups.
- Partner with the team to build and sustain community engagement strategies tailored to frontline and office employees, with familiarity with Chinese Mainland audiences while aligning and amplifying Hong Kong staff communications to drive connectivity.
- Create compelling, creative messaging and visual designs (infographics, videos, newsletters, digital screens, events) tailored for multi-channel delivery across diverse audiences.
- Partner with team members to develop and maintain communication calendars and editorial plans for consistent, timely delivery.
- Partner with teams on survey planning, coordination, and stakeholder management, translating insights and employee feedback into actionable plans while providing stakeholders with tracking support to measure improvement.
About You
- A relevant university degree or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in internal communications, employee engagement, digital community management, content creation, design, and/or journalism, with proven success translating corporate/HR strategies into actionable employee engagement plans across diverse audiences.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record in implementing employee engagement strategies and communication initiatives.
- Possesses excellent planning, strategic thinking, and execution skills; results-driven with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, accurately, and with high quality.
- Exhibits exceptional storytelling and presentation abilities.
- Has a solid understanding of various communication tools and channels, including intranet websites, mobile apps, social media platforms, and is familiar with relevant communication technologies and AI tools.
- Shows excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English and Simplified Chinese, with Traditional Chinese being a plus.
