Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Corporate Affairs (CA) Division strengthens the strategic development and positioning of the Club as a world-class racing club and charity organisation, through engaging key stakeholders in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, and maintaining efficient and effective corporate communications.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Mainland Affairs, the post holder is responsible for supporting the strategic engagement with key stakeholders, including government authorities, industry practitioners, community and enterprise partners, to enhance the overall understanding on the Club’s Integrated Business Model as well as its contributions across various sectors in the Mainland. The role also involves conducting research and analysis on Mainland policies and regulations, and preparing reports and briefs for both internal reference and external engagement. In addition, the post holder will support the preparation of speeches and other materials required for the Board of Stewards’ external events and engagements.
The Job
- Formulate, update and implement stakeholder mapping and engagement plans to promote understanding, build trust, and foster long-term partnerships with Mainland stakeholders.
- Prepare narratives and identify opportunities that effectively cultivate strategic stakeholders’ understanding of the Club’s positioning, purpose, and contributions in the Mainland.
- Provide support for Club-supported projects, events and programmes, demonstrating the Club’s commitment to sports development and social betterment.
- Monitor and analyse Mainland policies and legislation and identify those with implications or relevance to the Club’s Mainland business operations and developments
- Compile reports, policy briefs and submissions on Mainland policy developments for internal reference and external engagement purpose
- With a dotted reporting line to the Public Affairs (Corporate and Charities Communications) Department, support the preparation of speeches and other materials required for the Club Stewards’ external events and engagements
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors
About You
- A recognized university degree in political sciences, social sciences, public administration, communication, journalism or relevant qualification of a relevant discipline
- At least 10 years of experiences in Mainland affairs, public affairs, external affairs, public relations, and government relations, and/or journalism;
- Knowledge on Mainland political and socio-economic developments, policy trends, government administration and policymaking process;
- Strong political savvy and acumen of the latest political landscape; and Connection with relevant Mainland stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, high level of proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
