Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
Job Summary
The job holder will be part of the team supporting the 4-year pilot Scheme which is set up to support organisation growth of small Non-profit Organisations (NPO) by incorporating the trust based philanthropy approach with the view to building a vibrant NPO sector. The Talent and Sector Development Team will centrally co-ordinate the operation. The job holder will work in collaboration with different programme teams for successful implementation including but not limited to sector specific engagement, relationship building, funding assessment and monitoring.
The Job
- Steer successful implementation in collaboration with involving programme teams and external partners, including development of sector specific engagement strategy, conducting organisation health check, capacity building for organisation growth, engagement and matching of coach with participating agencies, selection and assessment of application for funding, overseeing performance, knowledge consolidation and impact measurement.
- Contribute sector specific perspective in generating an overall strategic marketing plan to promote the Scheme and highlight Trust thought leadership and commitment in nurturing small agencies for a healthy and vibrant ecosystem.
- Oversee budgetary planning and control, manage internal and external liaison and communication of all necessary processes, in compliance with the Club’s standard, to ascertain process integrity. Compile statistical/financial/progress reports and project updates, as well as report on special situations and make recommendations to management.
- Produce high quality board submission to report on performance of the Scheme.
- Engage in activities in relation to the Scheme including ceremonies, Voting Member Visits, Community Day and other related functions as part of the ongoing project monitoring process, stakeholder engagement and identification of development opportunities.
- Oversee professional development of supporting team members.
- Lead or support Cultural Transformation initiatives and other initiatives of respective programme teams as required.
About You
- 10 years of relevant experience, with 7 years at a senior level, preferably in the education or public administration sector.
- Solid track record of project management and organizational capability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team(s) and multiple stakeholders to achieve goals.
- Strong judgment, sensitivity, problem solving and people management skills.
- Good knowledge of talent/sector development, education programmes or cross-disciplinary schemes.
- Strong communication and liaison skills, both written and spoken, for collaboration with local and international institutions and organisations.
