Senior Manager, Charities (Communication and Publicity; Engagement Team)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Executive Manager, Charities (Programme Communication and Content Development), the job holder is responsible for supporting the development and crafting of compelling narratives, storytelling and content to proactively communicate the Trust’s work, strategies, and impact to key stakeholders such as community leaders, grantees, and partners to reinforce the Trust’s leadership in philanthropy and its position as Hong Kong’s largest community benefactor and one of the world’s leading charity donors. The job holder will collaborate with different divisions within the Club and other external stakeholders, to help manage and implement the integrated communication plan of Charities’ impact programmes.

The Job

  • Work closely with Charities programme teams to develop compelling narratives and content that highlight the Trust’s impact and engage diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including, public affairs and external affairs and external agencies/consultants to develop content and implement the communication plan, as well as the Trust related publicity and communications matters.
  • Plan and develop content and communication materials for Trust’s stakeholder engagement events and initiatives such as PBC Forum, Scholarship Presentation Ceremony.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel publicity campaigns to amplify project impact and stakeholder engagement.
  • Work with the Charities Programme Teams to produce impact stories for the Charities & Community Content Hub and newsletters.
  • Support preparation of content for the Trust’s section in the Club’s Annual Report and other key corporate publications.
  • Collaborate with internal divisions on joint campaigns that build awareness and reinforce the Club’s philanthropic leadership.
  • Support the Deputy Executive Manager in supervising team members and develop their capabilities.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by management.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in communications, publicity, events management and public affairs as well as a strong network with relevant stakeholders.
  • Relevant solid working experiences
  • Some exposure in social welfare matters in Hong Kong
  • Strong passion in community affairs and charities work 
  • Excellent bilingual (English/Chinese) writing proficiency
