Senior Manager, Charities (Older Adults - "SMART Family-Link")

The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Department

The job holder will have the primary duty in managing the overall planning, development, and implementation of the Trust-initiated Project ("TIP"), Jockey Club SMART Family-Link Project ("JCSFL Project"). The job holder will also participate in the development of new grant-making projects and TIPs under "Positive Ageing & Elderly Care".

The Job

  • Provide managerial support to JCSFL Project Team to ensure effective execution of the project, including but not limit to implementation of all the required project governance and controls, preparation of reports, and maintenance of records for the Club's management team and Charities' Trust's review.
  • Develop the project plan including the tasks, deliverables, schedules and resources required, and maintain a repository of documentations for project governance and audit purposes, including but not limited to funding proposals, agreements, progress reports, meeting minutes, and project publications etc.
  • Monitor the delivery and effectiveness of the project's activities to ensure that they are in line with the project objectives and timelines, and work closely with project partners to ensure deliverables are in accordance with specifications, schedules and expectations.
  • Plan and monitor matters related to finance (budget monitoring), purchasing and supplies functions (e.g.,handling procurement and coordinating contracts and milestone payments to related vendors).
  • Design and implement stakeholder engagement strategy, including liaison with industry partners, government, community leaders, general public, etc.
  • As part of TIPs governance process, coordinate progress updates from external project partners and JC Project Team and provide secretarial support to the Advisory Committee and the sub-committees/working groups of the project.
  • Provide coaching, guidance and support to members of the Project Team concerning effective implementation mitigation of risks, internal and external communication in particular.
  • Participate in the development of new grant-making projects and TIPs under "Positive Ageing & Elderly Care" prioritised issues, and carry out other duties as directed by the Head of Charities (Positive Ageing & Elderly Care; and Healthy Community) and Executive Manager, Charities (Positive Ageing & Elderly Care)

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in the field of Social Sciences, Public Health, or Social Work
  • A minimum of 8 years' relevant working experience with at least 3 years at managerial level, preferably in the NGOs, Government, social service, public administration, consulting, charity or other related fields;
  • Seasoned in project management, team coordination, as well as a strong ability to collaborate with a number of stakeholders
  • Knowledge on government policies or insights on community service needs, particularly in elderly services and related areas;
  • Strong ability in interpersonal skills with people with various functions and levels;
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good communication and writing skills in both English and Chinese; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, powerpoint, excel etc.)
