Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Job
- Drive the development and implementation of the STEM related projects, serving as the accountable lead for delivery and quality by designing the application and selection framework; establishing and servicing the Selection Panel; directing the review and assessment process; managing grantee partners and vendors for capacity‑ and community‑building programmes; and driving the scheme’s publicity to achieve intended project objectives and impact.
- Manage and assure delivery of STEM projects through university partners, overseeing project administration and operations, assessment and selection of lab applications, and outcomes and impact measurement to achieve the programme’s stated objectives and impact.
- Lead the development of a vibrant STEM talent community by building platforms for knowledge dissemination; convening knowledge‑sharing initiatives; fostering synergy and collaboration between the Project and the Trust’s broader talent pool; amplifying the impact of Trust‑funded research; and facilitating cross‑sectoral and cross‑disciplinary collaboration with other Trust‑supported projects and programmes to drive project impact and strengthen brand traction.
- Proactively collaborate with other TIPs to drive synergistic programming, events and coordinated stakeholder engagement, including partnerships with leading overseas and Mainland Chinese universities, STEM-focused foundations, and relevant public sector stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain effective partnerships with government and sector stakeholders, including the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, the University Grants Committee, university offices, awarded scholars, and knowledge leaders and their teams; and to oversee internal and external liaison and communication for all necessary processes in compliance with the Club’s standards to uphold governance and integrity.
- Monitor developments and emerging needs in higher education, STEM, and talent development locally, in Mainland China, and globally; and to generate strategic insights to inform project development and implementation, ensuring the Club’s and Trust’s support remains effective in nurturing top talent for societal benefit.
- Produce high quality committee papers, programme reports for regular committee meetings and board submission.
- Represent the Trust in activities including ceremonies and other functions as part of the on-going project monitoring process, stakeholders engagement and new initiatives development.
- Lead or support Club-wide initiatives, and cross-team and cross-theme collaboration effort. To plan and oversee professional development of supporting team members.
About You
- Must have a minimum of 10-12 years' relevant experience, with 7 years at a senior level, preferably in the social welfare, education, youth development or talent development sectors, or charity and foundations related to scholarships and fellowships management.
- Must have extensive experience in dealing with different stakeholders, such as local and overseas higher education institutes, school heads and educators, academics, NGOs, social enterprises, government departments and officials.
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills.
