Senior Manager, Charities (Sports Project Management)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Department

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Job

• Lead the planning, implementation, governance and continuous enhancement of a new project in Sports team, ensuring alignment with the Trust's strategic objectives and the achievement of intended programme outcomes and impact.
• Provide leadership and direction to Central Coordination Team, grantees and programme partners to ensure effective delivery, collaboration and performance across all project components.
• Support the Executive Manager and/or Deputy Executive Manager in the strategic development, governance and resource management of project, including programme planning, prioritisation and decision-making.
• Oversee programme performance, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment activities, leveraging data and insights to drive programme improvement and inform management decisions.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, sports organisations, NGOs, educational institutions, professional bodies and other key stakeholders to strengthen programme delivery and maximise sector impact.
• Oversee programme communications, branding, stakeholder engagement and partnership initiatives to strengthen awareness, positioning and understanding of project and its outcomes.
• Lead the identification and management of programme risks, issues and emerging opportunities, and recommend enhancements to improve programme effectiveness, sustainability and long-term impact.
• Oversee programme budgets, resource utilisation and compliance with governance requirements, ensuring effective stewardship of Trust resources and accountability across programme partners.
• Lead, coach and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture. Support the Executive Manager and/or Deputy Executive Manager in the assessment and management of selected initiatives under the Sports Impact Programme, including the preparation of management papers, reports and presentations.

About You

• Bachelor's degree or above in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Sports/Recreation Management, Education, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related disciplines. Postgraduate qualifications and/or professional certifications are an advantage.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in philanthropy, grant-making, sports development, education, public administration, social impact, nonprofit management or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex programmes, strategic initiatives or multi-stakeholder partnerships.
• Proven experience in team leadership, staff development and performance management.
• Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership management involving government bodies, NGOs, sports organisations, educational institutions and professional associations.
• Experience in programme governance, monitoring and evaluation, impact assessment and resource management.
• Experience in workforce development, talent development or capacity-building initiatives is an advantage.
• Good understanding of Hong Kong's sports, education and social development landscape.
