Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Corporate Affairs (CA) Division strengthens the strategic development and positioning of the Club as a world-class racing club and charity organisation, through engaging key stakeholders in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, and maintaining efficient and effective corporate communications.
Job Summary
The jobholder will assist Head of Department, Public Affairs (CCCC) and the team to develop and deliver communication strategy to drive broad public awareness and recognition of the positive role that HKJC plays in contributing to the betterment of society in Hong Kong. This includes creation and management of publicity campaigns, media collaborations, content development and events that promote the Club’s charitable and community programmes and contributions.
The Job
- Develop & execute mass public communications to drive broad awareness & understanding of the Club’s role in social betterment via online and offline campaigns in partnership with internal parties including External Affairs and Charities to ensure aligned message house & content
- Develop media collaborations and content to engage target audience (e.g. Gen Y & Z). This includes identifying the media partners that appeal to the right audience, defining the message & content that most resonates with them and working with relevant internal parties to develop the digital execution which could be video or story article.
- Manage creative agencies, media agencies and other production partners to ensure the delivery of quality & cost efficient campaigns. Develop & manage a holistic project plan with careful consideration on upstream & downstream activities.
- Manage the on-going enhancement, maintenance and performance analytic of the newly launched Charities & Community content hub built on Sitecore (Club’s Content Management System). Supervise the workflow and output adhere to the new Target Operating Model and Style Guide to ensure clear roles & responsibilities and consistent verbal expression.
- Develop tracking mechanisms to measure effectiveness and efficiency of publicity campaigns. Track campaign results and adjust content, creative execution and/or media placement in real time, and conduct customer satisfaction and campaign evaluation surveys to generate insights for continuous improvement.
- Deliver community events and/or activations e.g. CNY float parade, Major sporting events, Tai Kwun Xmas event (as a taskforce member) to drive HKJC’s brand recognition. This includes end to end execution from concept development, KPI setting to production, delivery and results tracking.
- Manage community communications assets (e.g. Cheering Team mascots, master visual sets and event displays) to ensure consistency, quality and fit-for-purpose use across campaigns and events.
- Manage the assigned budget including communications budget from Charities (eg M-mark events) to optimise ROI.
- Lead and build the team with motivation and professionalism, clear KPIs setting and succession plan by strategic Talent Management framework.
- Undertake other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by management.
About You
- A university degree in Communications, Public Relations or related disciplines, preferably with exposure to campaign planning, audience engagement or insights development.
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience at managerial level in a sizable organisation.
- Strategic communications and campaign planning skills
- Digital communications skills
- Audience research and insights experience
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
