Deputy Executive Manager, Strategic Procurement (Racing)

The Job

  1. Work together with the EMSPR on holistic Demand Planning:
  • Obtain a precise understanding of current and future demand for both CRC and HK sites at a sub-category level
  • Translate the demand into objectives and planning for the Racing category team

 

  1. Develop a supply route capable of meeting current and future needs of dual site operations and mitigate risks for import /export drugs and supplements to Mainland direct as far as possible, or via HK
  • Ensure successful importation of goods to China (direct route)
  • Ensure successful importation of good to HK and exportation of goods to China (HK to PRC route)

 

  1. Develop and implement a strategic approach to manage Veterinary and Clinical related categories which ensures supplies are on time in full and meet quality standard to deliver the best value to the Club
  • Identify potential targets for opportunity improvement and deliver year on year benefits
  • Define sub-categories strategies and objectives considering business/user departments target

 

  1. Lead projects on specific strategic initiatives related to Racing business and Mainland sourcing
  • Work closely with sub-category leads and identify relevant initiatives with well-defined scopes and goals
  • Conduct feasibility study and market research for fact findings and build up solid foundation for future sourcing/supplier strategies

 

  1. Develop sourcing strategy conjointly with EMSPR and sub-category leads, which ensures supply continuity in the long run:
  • Work jointly with sub-category leads to identify business requirements in category sourcing for common purchases
  • Cultivate and develop key suppliers to enter China market as well as activating a China base sourcing strategy to reduce import dependence in the long run

 

  1. Develop supplier strategy together with sub-category leads, including supplier management and development:
  • Develop and manage Strategic Supplier relationships with an optimum number of identified suppliers
  • Regularly review the supply marketplace for the Racing category and associated subcategories

 

  1. Implement a formal feedback loop to ensure suppliers continue to develop on plan
  • Ensure supplier development is in line with Racing category strategy and sub-cat planning
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events to collect market intelligence and build up global sourcing network

About You

  • Degree holder with professional qualification in Procurement, Business Administration or Operational Management (e.g. CIPS or equivalent)
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in procurement and commercial management
  • Technical expertise in portfolio/specialist areas (racing operations and equine field)
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing / procurement and commercial & contract management tools and techniques
  • Strong knowledge of Mainland sourcing and project management experience
  • High level of integrity, work ethics and good moral values
  • Ability to establish, influence and maintain collaborative partnerships and engage in effective negotiations with a broad range of parties.
  • Knowledge of market and ability to understand where it is heading; able to translate this information into positive impact on the business
  • A competent understanding of financial information
  • Ability to produce well written reports that can be presented at senior management level
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, fluent in Mandarin is a plus
