Due Diligence Analyst

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Security, Integrity and Information Security (“SIIS") Division is responsible for the preservation of integrity by combatting criminality and corruption risks that can threaten horse racing, betting, and membership at the Club. The maintenance of a secure environment and integrity is key to our business. Not only is it important to ensure horse racing in Hong Kong is fair, it is also of paramount importance to the Club that there is governance and fair opportunities in all bet-placements. The department consists of Integrity & Financial Crime Risk, Racing Security & Integrity Assurance, Corporate Security and Information Security Risk & Assurance functions.

Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for in performing Due Diligence activities, preparing and reviewing due diligence reports independently to support the objective of protecting the Club's integrity, providing assessment or recommendation to related parties in order to mitigate and reduce the risks identified.

The Job

  • Prepare due diligence reports independently that are intended for the Club's senior management by conducting open-source research with a focus on the analysis of entities or events under minimal supervision.
  • Assist the supervisors in reviewing and ensuring the quality of the reports prepared by the analysts, and evaluating the information and information sources for accuracy, reliability and relevance in assessing risk impacting the Club and produce top-quality due diligence and research-related support.
  • Provide assessment or recommendation to the management that are aligned to the Club's vision and mission in order to mitigate/reduce the risks identified in the due diligence process. Monitors the execution of proposed actions.
  • Assist in the preparation and provision of related training programs to both departmental staff as well as Club's colleagues. Proactively look to undertake training and development programs in order to gain a greater managerial understanding.
  • Assist the management in identifying technical deficiencies and efficiency gaps in the due diligence program and provide solutions to address the issues and improve the program.
  • Undertake or assist the supervisors in allocating and prioritising cases based on the potential risk to the Club and the agreements with the business units.
  • Identify new sources of information, research tools, and approaches for conducting due diligence, identifying solutions which look to simplify and/or automate part of the risk-assessment process.
  • Provide due diligence program assessment and recommendations and ensure the sustainability of the due diligence program and balancing the level of resources and the allocation of work.
  • Assist to manage the RPA processes and regularly review on update on Standard Operation Procedures; recommends processes improvement and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

About You

  • A bachelor degree from any disciplines
  • A minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of experience in investigative/deep-dive due diligence, compliance or journalism and two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience in formal due diligence analysis and customer communication is a must.
  • Relevant professional qualification is a plus (e.g. AAMLP/ACAMS certification)
