Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Job
Reporting to the Head of Charities (Education & Youth Cluster), this role will oversees the strategic portfolios of Education to drive social impact; launches and monitors the development and implementation of Trust-initiated and Trust-funded projects; identifies community service gaps and develops new initiatives; reviews and updates the funding strategies as and when appropriate and promotes project impacts and the Trust's thought leaderships in public, regional and global arenas while facilitating experience sharing across relevant sectors.
- Identifies, develops, implements and monitors new initiatives so as to improve the quality of life of people of Hong Kong. Be responsible for managing Trust-funded and Trust-initiated projects and annual donation amount of around $1.1-12 billion per thematic area.
- Works with relevant parties, e.g. non-government-organisations, government departments, academia to orchestrate the development and implementation of Trust-initiated projects, as well as monitors the budget, progress, publicity and output of these projects.
- Leads a team of 20-25 AEs and staff to manage Education portfolio strategically to drive social impact.
- Processes funding applications and makes fair and appropriate recommendations to the Board of Trustees for the. allocation of Trust funds to meet the community needs.
- To design and implement a stakeholder engagement plan, develops and manages relationships with key external stakeholders, including government bureaux and departments, NGOs, academic institutions, commercial organisations, regional and global network partners, and international philanthropy organisations.
- Develops and reviews guidelines to enable colleagues in the Department to make effective and consistent recommendations of the Board of Trustees for their consideration and approval.
- Assists in and contribute to the efficient and effective management of the Department in fulfilling its role as an executive arm of the Trust, including team and organisational development.
- Contributes towards an enhanced Club image through supporting publicity functions and knowledge consolidation of Trust's charity works.
- Supports Cultural Transformation by upholding the value and role modelling to actualise the mission of "One Club, One Team, One Vision".
About You
- University degree in a relevant discipline
- A minimum of 10 years relevant managerial experiences in charity, philanthropy, education or government bureaux/departments
- Good understanding of the structure and operations of school institutions and NGOs in the sectors which the Trust supports
- Familiar with relevant Government policies, such as education reform policy, integrated education policy, with deep understanding of Hong Kong's education landscape and insights into national and global trends Acquaintance with bureaux/departments and/or liaison work, e.g. Education, Home and Youth Affairs, Labour and Welfare, District Offices, regional and global network partners
- Profound knowledge of integrating digital/science & technology into education
- Well experienced in multi-task project management and planning
