Financial Crime Risk Investigations Manager

The Division

The Security, Integrity and Information Security (SIIS) Division is responsible for the Club’s integrity by combatting criminality, corruption, and information security risks, including cyber security that may impact business. Through robust governance and proactive security measures, SIIS is dedicated to maintaining a secure environment and upholding uncompromising integrity across Club operations.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the launch of a new basketball betting product within the Financial Crime Risk Investigations – AML (FCRI - AML) team. This role will focus on data integration, process automation, analytics, and reporting, ensuring robust compliance and risk management throughout the product lifecycle.

The Job

  • Build and maintain data pipelines to integrate betting, customer, and transactional data for AML monitoring and perform data analysis to detect trends, anomalies, and emerging risks in customer behavior and transactions. Incorporate data validation and enrichment steps to strengthen AML analytics for betting activities.
  • Collaborate with IT and project teams to improve data quality, automate workflows, and strengthen system logic for transaction monitoring, e.g., integrating AML logic into betting platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and quality checks.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reporting frameworks that provide actionable insights for investigators and senior management, enabling proactive risk mitigation.
  • Support system enhancement initiatives, including user acceptance testing, documentation, and post-implementation reviews to ensure smooth integration and compliance readiness.
  • Conduct due diligence and data analysis on customers and their associated betting transactions to assess whether the Club’s betting services are being used for money laundering or terrorist financing. 
  • Independently lead medium sized projects, supported by one or two AML analysts, which are designed to further help the Club to identify, understand, and mitigate AML risk exposure. Examples include development of criminal typologies and understanding risk exposure posed by different betting channels or services offered by the Club.
  • Undertake other duties assigned by MFCRI.

About You

  • A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or related disciplines. (Master’s or PhD degree holders are welcome.)
  • A minimum of four years of experience in quantitative research, data analytics or AML analytics.
  • Understanding of AML regulations and transaction monitoring frameworks.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and/or Chinese is essential.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of SQL scripting and/or Excel macros is essential.
  • Familiarity with AML and Financial Crime Risk (FCR) programs, especially transaction monitoring.
  • Experience with AML transaction monitoring systems is preferred.
