Apprentice Farrier

Job Summary

The job holder will work in the Farrier Services Department at CRC. He / She will be required to undergo a 4 year and 3 month Farrier Training Program including weekly English and fitness lessons. This program will cover all aspects of the farrier training provided. The candidate will be required to pass all competency assessments upon completion of each year before proceeding to the next level. He / She will ultimately become a competent Farrier that is responsible for providing a high standard of farriery care to all customers.

Major Tasks

1. Provide support to the Master Farriers / Senior Farriers / Farrier 1s
2. Acquire and enhance knowledge and skills of farriery on the job and through self-study
3. Acquire basic knowledge of equine anatomy, forging skills, hoof balance, and common ailments and engage in ongoing education to complete the Farrier Training Program in 4 years and 3 months

Education

Secondary school or above

Qualifications

Complete and pass all foundation course assessments during the probation period

Experience

Horse handling experience is an advantage but not essential
