Major Tasks

• Ensuring that the horse's health and condition are monitored and maintained.
• Ensuring the trainees and stable staff comply with all the safety protocols set by the Occupational Safety and Health standards of the club.
• Discussing the daily trackwork schedule with the Chief Riding Instructor to ensure the horse selection for each rider is done in accordance with their skill level.
• Assisting the Chief Riding Instructor with delivering practical demonstrations and riding techniques
• Liaising with the farriers and vets to make sure the horses receive the required treatment when necessary.
• Aiding in the continuous development of other jockey club staff from SA, track riders, track staff, assistant trainers.
• Supervising the care for horses in the stable.
• Placing feed and bedding orders through the clubs online ordering system.

Experience

• 10 years working experience in racing industry
• Experience in race riding and stable management
