Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Trading Manager (Trading and Player Risk), the job holder owns the end-to-end delivery of quantitative, statistical and machine learning models that power the Club's sports wagering business — from exploration and feature engineering through to production deployment. The role turns large-scale wagering data into real-time pricing, player risk and customer insights, building probabilistic models that adapt to customer betting patterns and market movements.

The primary focus is to drive measurable business impact by expanding the portfolio of betting products and markets and continuously improving the commercial performance of existing models, within the Club's Responsible Gambling framework.

The Job

  • Own the end-to-end development, productionisation and monitoring of probabilistic and machine learning models that power real-time pricing, player risk assessment and wagering products
  • Design and run experiments (e.g. A/B tests, backtests) to evaluate new products, pricing strategies and model changes, and quantify their business impact
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical modelling on large-scale wagering data to uncover trends, patterns and actionable insights
  • Build and refine predictive models that adapt to customer betting patterns and market movements in real time, optimising for both accuracy and computational efficiency
  • Apply Generative AI / large language models and modern machine learning techniques where they add business value
  • Partner with data engineers to build reliable data pipelines and embed MLOps practices (version control, automated checks, monitoring, retraining) across the model lifecycle
  • Collaborate with trading, product and business stakeholders to translate business problems into data science solutions
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Handle wagering and customer data in line with the Club's data governance, privacy and Responsible Gambling requirements, and comply with all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club's business
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by supervisor

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related field; a Master's degree or PhD is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a modelling / analysis / statistics role (statistical, Artificial Intelligence & Operational Research techniques or other disciplines)
  • Strong command of statistical analysis, machine learning and predictive modelling, with a track record of delivering models into production
  • Production-level programming in Python and/or R, plus SQL
  • Experience with modern machine learning frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and practices for deploying and monitoring models
  • Experience performing data wrangling from multiple data sources and working with large, complex datasets in an on-premise environment
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with Generative AI / large language models, including the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools, is an advantage
  • A keen interest in sports (especially horse racing and football) and statistical analysis; a good understanding of the gaming industry is essential
  • Excellent written (English and Chinese) and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to integrity, responsible gambling and the careful handling of customer data
