Assistant/ Manager, Business Planning and Analytics (Retail)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

 

The Division

The Membership and Customer Excellence (MCE) Division is responsible for delivering world-class experiences and deepening engagement across all customer segments. The team oversees operations of clubhouses, racecourses, and Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs), while enhancing member and owner value propositions and promoting interest in horse ownership and equestrian sports. It leads the Club’s customer experience strategy across digital and physical touchpoints, ensuring consistency, agility, and excellence. The Division also manages data strategy and governance to build a unified view of customers, enabling more personalised and impactful interactions.

 

The Job

  • Budget Management: Oversee the annual budgeting process for Retail and Telebet Services, ensuring stakeholders’ input aligns with departmental goals. Monitor headcount and operating expenses within budget and corporate KPI targets.
  • Budget Allocation: Distribute budgets across teams, districts, and branches based on corporate KPI targets. Collaborate with the Head of Retail and Telebet (HoRT) and the Executive Manager, Retail Planning and Control, to establish effective budget rules.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct analyses to assess operational efficiency, focusing on KPIs such as turnover, productivity, and profitability. Promptly identify and report any adverse trends. Oversee the compilation of KPIs and scorecards for districts and branches, ensuring clear communication of budgeting and KPI tracking.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present insightful reports to highlight performance metrics and effectively communicate findings to senior management. Ensure reports are accurate and adhere to corporate standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the external and internal stakeholders to align on business objectives.
  • Dashboard Management: Lead the design and migration of performance dashboards, conducting regular stakeholder reviews to enhance visual presentation based on needs.
  • Projects and EAP / Business Case Support: Support major projects / renovations on financial calculation to support business case write up, ensures appropriate business assumptions be developed with the stakeholders. Supports EAP process with the business owners. Evaluates whether corporate committed targets are achieved.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process enhancement within business planning and analytics functions to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Execute ad-hoc analyses to support decision-making processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Gambling Policy (RGP) and all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club’s business.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

About You

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in financial reporting and analysis role in a medium to large sized organization.
  • Experience working in organisations with diverse operations or dealing with multiple stakeholders is a plus.
  • Solid business acumen with strong analytical ability.
  • Extensive experience with Excel/VBA, SQL, other business intelligence tools is a must
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and inter-personal skills to deal with different stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Good computer literacy in using Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Word.
