Assistant Manager, Mainland Customer Experience Development (9-month contract)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Department
SP30 is the lighthouse strategic project set up by the Club for the business design and establishment of the Conghua Racecourse (‘CRC’), being a complex new business establishment with innovative offerings and a new way of working.
Led by the Chief Advisor, Mainland Development (CAMD), who acts as the SP30 Business Manager, the SP30 Integrated Project Management Office (IPMO) is responsible for designing developing and implementing the CRC strategy and business model through the workstreams below and ensuring on time / budget / quality delivery of these workstreams in an integrated manner.
Conghua Racecourse will officially open to the public in 2026, offering mainland customers a world-class horse racing experience, followed by Team Racing to be launched in 2027. As horse racing is relatively new to many mainland audiences, Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts will be on-site to share racing knowledge, engage with guests, and encourage active participation in race day activities.
The job holder will report to Manager, Mainland Customer Experience & Marketing Planning, and will support the recruitment, training and management of the Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts that will participate in the Conghua Racecourse Grand Opening event and subsequence post launching follow up work.
The Job
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partner organizations to recruit Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts.
- Develop comprehensive training materials and curriculum for Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts, covering horse racing knowledge, customer service essentials, and racecourse offerings.
- Collaborate with internal departments and production companies to create multimedia horse racing knowledge-sharing content for customers, enabling Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts to enhance guest understanding and participation during race days.
- Prepare tailored race-day briefing materials for each event to support Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts in delivering accurate and engaging information.
- Assess the strengths and capabilities of each Racing Ambassador and Racing Host, strategically assigning them to different segment boxes and managing roster schedules.
- Coordinate logistics with internal departments and external partners to ensure Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts are properly scheduled and present at required locations during race days, trials, and simulations.
- Manage performance evaluations, payments, and incentive programs for Racing Ambassadors and Racing Hosts.
- Support other horse racing-related events at Conghua Racecourse (e.g., Team Racing), including arranging Racing Ambassadors and Hosts, training, assessments, and developing customer-facing content packages.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
About You
- Prefer the candidates with experienced horse racing and good knowledge of HK racing.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sports Management, or related field.
- Proven experience in recruitment, training, or event management, preferably within hospitality, sports, or entertainment industries.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and deliver results within tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with training or content development tools.
