Assistant Public Affairs Manager
Job Summary
The job holder supports management in the planning and execution of publicity tasks aimed at increasing media coverage of Hong Kong's elite horse racing events, particularly the major races, under the theme of racing as a sport. This involves coordinating with internal departments and leading team members to implement operational plans, manage media attendance at events, and oversee related operations. The job holder also fosters strong media relationships with key stakeholders in both racing and non-racing media through strategic engagement and issue management. Additionally, the job holder assists in developing a publicity plan for Mainland China and prepares materials to promote Hong Kong racing in the GBA.
Major Tasks
- Support in devising and implementing pitching plans to enhance coverage and drive publicity for the flagship racing events, including LONGINES HKIR, FWD Champions Day and Season Finale to ensure good customers experience for media with the aim of generating favourable reports and coverage. Throughout the process, also aim at assisting SPAM to develop team members in strengthening their relationship building and communication capability.
- Explore and develop news angles for regular publicity plans targeting non-racing media outlets in the mainland and Hong Kong, so as to promote Hong Kong world class racing and Racing as a Sport to target audience.
- Support management and PA Mainland team in preparing pitching materials such as factsheet, TV scripts and relevant materials as according to the approved key messages in order to drive positive coverage to promote Hong Kong world class racing and also Club's contribution to HK and Mainland racing development to target audience in GBA.
- Manage all local racing media and non-racing media in good order especially for feature racedays such as HKIR/Champions Day, Season Finale and National Day race meeting, to facilitate press reporting duties and to generate positive coverage.
- Support management in executing all media-related daily operational duties and tasks smoothly and in providing timely support to racing and non-racing media, so as to assist the team in building up good media relationship for future engagement and pitching purposes.
- Support management in news monitoring so as to alert management timely and efficiently whenever necessary. Arrange fact checking and analysis for management to support preparation of possible follow-up action.
Education
- A bachelor degree in Journalism, Communication, or other relevant disciplines.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years' work experience in journalism or public relations
- Rich experience in media relations and public affairs as well as a strong network with the media and other relevant stakeholders.
