Club-wide Sustainability Officer

The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Department

The Club-wide Sustainability (CwS) department develops and ensures the implementation of Club-wide environmental-related strategies, policies, and programs across key divisions and operations in both Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. It is also responsible for driving the Club’s sustainability agenda and strategy, as well as the delivery of sustainability reporting and communications.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Environmental Data & Analytics (EDA) team lead, this individual provides operational support for environmental data governance and management. He/she is responsible for data collection and review and database maintenance. He/she collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and provides analytical insights that support strategic decision-making. 

The Job

  • Assist in implementing environmental data governance policies by maintaining process documentation, tracking compliance, and supporting internal audits; help ensure data integrity and traceability across systems.
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual environmental data submissions across departments, validate data for accuracy and completeness, resolve discrepancies and escalate issues as needed.
  • Assist to develop and maintain the Club-wide environmental database by performing regular data cleansing and data structure review.
  • Analyse environmental performance data using appropriate tools and methodologies. Generate insights and visualizations that support internal reviews, strategic planning, and external disclosures.
  • : Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding and compliance with environmental data protocols; provide guidance and support to facilitate smooth data workflows and timely submissions.
  • Support the preparation of internal and external sustainability reporting materials by compiling data, creating charts, and formatting summaries. Assist in coordinating with internal teams during external data assurance to ensure smooth communication and documentation.
  • Assist in organizing logistics and materials for internal training sessions. Help promote awareness of environmental data governance as well as environmental subject matter and trends.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives and provide administrative and data support as needed.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in sustainability support roles.
  • Awareness of sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Exposure in project management
  • Proficiency in English and Cantonese and Mandarin.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or other analytics or visualization tools.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in sustainability data governance.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
