The Division

The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement.  With Conghua Racecourse and Greater Bay Area expansion, we’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven leader to lead the Hong Kong International Sale (HKIS), a flagship annual event providing racehorse owners with access to high-quality International Sales Griffins (ISGs).

 

This role is instrumental in strengthening Hong Kong’s racehorse population by sourcing, preparing, and delivering elite horses through a world-class sales platform. You will drive end-to-end strategy—from global sourcing to sale execution—while providing expert advisory support to both experienced and new owners in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

You will drive end-to-end strategy—from global sourcing to sale execution—while providing expert advisory support to both experienced and new owners in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

 

 

The Job

  • Strategy & Horse Sourcing
    • Develop and implement HKIS purchasing strategy (markets, sales channels, horse profiles, price points, volumes)
    • Lead external experts in pedigree analysis, conformation assessment, and suitability evaluation
    • Partner with veterinary teams to ensure low-risk acquisitions with strong performance potential

 

  • Horse Development & Preparation
    • Oversee pre-training strategies overseas and at Conghua Racecourse (CRC)
    • Monitor horse development and make selection decisions at key checkpoints
    • Ensure only high-potential, sound horses are presented at HKIS

 

  • HKIS Auction Delivery
    • Plan and execute the annual HKIS event, including catalogue development, marketing, breezups, inspections, and auction operations
    • Position HKIS as a premier, prestige international racing auction
    • Manage post-sale owner engagement and resolve any concerns or disputes

 

  • Stakeholder & Advisory Services
    • Provide strategic advice to Hong Kong and Mainland owners on horse sourcing, trainer selection, and industry best practices
    • Support broader Club initiatives on horse permit fulfilment

 

  • Education & Market Development
    • Partner with internal teams to design and deliver owner education programmes
    • Support initiatives to develop new and future owners, including events, tours, and learning experiences

 

 

About You

  • Proven experience in the bloodstock industry (breeding and sales) is a critical component for this role
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding in pedigree is a prerequisite
  • Ability to plan resources effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong social networking skills (to develop and maintain an extensive list of contacts)
  • Strong communication, speaking and interviewing skills; ability to improvise, entertain audience and keep events moving
  • Proficiency and fluency in both written and spoken English
