Deputy Executive Manager, Sports Wagering Marketing

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

 

 

The Division
The Sports Business Division is responsible for the entire sports business portfolio and drives end-to-end commercial growth across horse racing, football, lottery, and emerging sporting opportunities. It focuses on strategic marketing to attract and retain diverse customer segments, leads the Racecourse Masterplan development, spearheads new ventures with global growth potential, and manages the sports wagering portfolio to drive revenue and profitability.

 

 

Job Summary 
This role plays a key role in driving the strategic development and execution of wagering content for the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s sports wagering portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Sports Wagering Marketing, this position is also accountable for implementing media and promotional initiatives in collaboration with Sports Marketing team.

 

This role is integral to shaping and delivering comprehensive marketing strategies that support business growth objectives for sports wagering products. Key focus areas include advertising, wagering content development, customer engagement programs, and product promotions across HKJC betting channels and external media platforms.

 

In addition, the role contributes to the long‑term strategic advancement of HKJC’s broader sports business by leading the planning and execution of multi‑sport product marketing initiatives. The role aims to drive cross‑sport participation and reinforce the development of professional sports in Hong Kong.



The Job

  • Content Strategy & Development
    • Lead the end-to-end development of themed content around sports games, leagues, and events to maximize wagering interest
    • Drive content roadmaps tool plan and create sports wagering content for HKJC betting channels
    • Identify key sports events and player statistics that influence wagering decisions and shape content accordingly
    • Collaborate with content creators, data analysts, and product teams to produce timely, accurate, and engaging sports wagering content
    • Continually assess sports wagering content performance and optimize based on customer feedback and analytics
  • Media Initiatives Execution
    • Support Executive Manager, Sports Wagering Marketing to execute of media plans tailored to sports wagering audiences, in partnership with Sports Marketing team
    • Support creative development and campaign launches across channels
    • Help coordinate media buys and budgets ensuring maximum ROI and adherence to marketing spend limits
    • Monitor and report on campaign effectiveness
    • Leverage digital marketing tools to improve targeting accuracy and personalized marketing communications
  • Targeted CRM Programmes
    • Develop CRM Programmes for sports customers in driving long-term loyalty
    • Monitor sports customer performance and betting preferences, in collaboration with Sports Marketing Team
    • Partner with segments to plan and implement customer acquisition, retention and activation programs
    • Collaborate with channels to develop customer-centric channel promotions
    • Design and develop product education and communication materials in partnership with product team
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Build strong relationships within the Club to drive cross-functional collaboration
    • Manage partnerships with broadcasters, sports leagues, and influencers to amplify content reach
    • Negotiate and oversee contracts with content providers and external agencies
  • Manage product marketing budget to achieve ROI and budget accuracy
  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership to teammates; support the building of a high-performing culture in which all team members are coached and motivated to collaborate and strive for excellence
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Gambling Policy (RGP) and all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club’s business
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by Line Manager

 

 

About You

  • A degree in Business, Marketing or related disciplines
  • Minimum 8 years’ solid experience in marketing or advertising with at least 5 years at managerial level
  • Proven track record of success in planning and executing marketing campaigns in both traditional and new media
  • Extensive CRM experience
  • Experience in driving multi-media content
  • Strong team leader; highly motivated, fast-paced, creative with ability to lead multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Strong marketing plan write-up and presentation skills
  • Experience in sports marketing is a plus – even better with ball games specifically
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese with strong numerical sense
  • Knowledge of and passion in sports and wagering
  • Strong content editorial skills
  • Strong media planning skills and knowledgeable about media tools
