Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Job
- Develop and review funding proposals to make recommendations to the Executive Director, Charities and Community, ensuring compliance with the Trust's policies and guidelines while addressing community needs
- Seek out new initiatives and explore collaboration opportunities with the Government, tertiary institutions, and non-government organizations to meet the emerging needs of the community
- Monitor spending of donated funds, handle budget virements, and assist in compiling statistical, financial, and progress reports, as well as reporting on special situations with recommendations to management
- Monitor approved projects to ensure they are implemented and completed according to schedule, pledged outputs, and within the original agreed scope and budget
- Engage in activities related to respective projects, including ceremonies, Voting Member Visits, Community Day, and other functions as part of ongoing project monitoring and stakeholder engagement
- Perform additional tasks such as background research on proposals and drafting articles and speeches for publicity events as required by the Trust
- Support the Department in formulating and implementing strategies for greater social impact
About You
- Bachelor's degree in any disciplines
- Must have a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience, with at least 7 years at a senior level, preferably in social welfare, education, sports, arts, public administration, or the charity and grant-making field, or any other sectors related to the HKJC Charities Trust's funding ambit
- Must have extensive knowledge of one or several sectors under the HKJC Charities Trust's funding ambit
- Must have extensive experience in dealing with various stakeholders, such as government and non-government organisations, academic institutions, art and culture related organisations and local foundations regarding philanthropic matters in Hong Kong
