External Affairs Officer (Sports Development)

Job Summary

The Corporate Affairs (CA) Division strengthens the strategic development and positioning of the Club as a world-class racing Club and charity organisation, through engaging key stakeholders in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, and maintaining efficient and effective corporate communications. The job holder is responsible for planning and executing sports-related community projects to promote the positive image of the Club for the betterment of Hong Kong.  The job holder also supports stakeholder engagement strategies, building relationships with sports organisations, community partners and NGOs through project collaborations and social service initiatives.

Major Tasks

  • To support in planning and implementation of sport-related community projects and volunteer services;

  • To assist in managing the Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme (“JCAIAS”) and its relevant events;

  • To build and maintain relationship with external stakeholders, NGOs and sports-related organisations;
  • To prepare written and presentation materials for the meetings and community events and projects;
  • To provide the team with administrative services and logistic support in event operations as well as CARE volunteer service programmes;

  • To conduct desktop research and industry analyses related to sports development and issues relevant to the Club, and

  • To perform other duties assigned by supervisors.

Education

  • A recognised university degree in communications, public relations, pubic administration, business studies, external affairs and/or any other related discipline

Experience

  • A minimum of three years’ working experience in sports organisations or NGOs, language service, project management, or public relations;
  • Experience in sports-related fields will be a definite advantage;
  • Proven records of collaboration with government departments, local organizations, NGOs and sports associations;
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Hands-on skills of MS Office and Powerpoint applications;
  • Ability to be a good team player with positive working and learning attitude, be conscious, meticulous and self–motivated and be able to work independently; 
  • Self-confidence with strong communications and interpersonal skills, a pleasant personality and interest in meeting people.
