Manager, Charities (Engagement)

The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Job

  • Plan, develop, and implement strategic communication initiatives to enhance awareness, understanding, and visibility of the Trust’s charities portfolio.
  • Drive content development by building a robust story bank, developing story pipelines aligned with emerging social issues and community trends, and identifying the most effective channels for dissemination across digital, print, and event platforms.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships and maintain effective communication with a wide network of stakeholders including academic partners, NGOs, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate proactively with Charities programme teams and internal teams across the Club to maximise publicity efforts and reinforce the Trust’s brand image and thought leadership in the community and philanthropic sectors.
  • Support content development for signature events such as the PBC Forum, Scholarship Presentation Ceremony & Dinner, Community Day, Spring Luncheon, and other ad hoc initiatives.
  • Undertake other job tasks as assigned by supervisors.

About You

  • A degree holder in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, content development, and social media management, ideally within complex organisations or public institutions.
  • Proven experience in managing and engaging diverse stakeholder groups, including NGOs, academia, media, and government bodies.
  • Strong understanding or interest in the social welfare, community development, or philanthropy sectors is preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and strategic narratives for different audiences and platforms.
  • A strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail, capable of managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work under pressure.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Creative, organised, and committed to driving meaningful impact through strategic communication and community engagement.
