Manager, Charities (Grant Making)
Job Summary
The Job
You will:
- Assess and review donation applications' support-worthiness, analyzing social issues, the applicant's background, and the feasibility of proposed program content and budget. Liaise with applicants on proposals vetting and handle relevant administrative work, supporting Assistant Executives in preparing and drafting approval papers and annexes.
- Conduct research on social issues and new initiatives to support the development of new projects or theme/issue strategies, including literature reviews, industry/sector data analysis, surveys, focus groups, and discussions with potential project partners.
- Monitor approved projects to ensure implementation according to schedule, pledged outputs, and within the original agreed scope and budget. Assess project change requests and prepare documentation for internal approvals.
- Liaise with external partners (e.g., grant applicants, grantees, consultants, vendors) and internal counterparts (e.g., Finance, Procurement, IT) throughout different stages of the project lifecycle.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and prepare presentation materials, speeches, and miscellaneous papers.
- Organize or support the organization of Charities team initiatives, such as Culture Transformation, retreats, and stakeholder engagement activities.
For Institute of Philanthropy / Engagement / Sustainability, you will:
- Support the development and implementation of the Programme and related initiatives.
- Support the organization of events, multi-disciplinary forums, and programs to convene thought leaders, scholars, practitioners, and the public for knowledge sharing and social change related to philanthropy.
- Support research and analysis of the philanthropy landscape and relevant issues for the design and development of the Programme.
- Consolidate and analyze internal institutional knowledge materials, preparing presentation materials to communicate findings and curate content for different audience groups.
- Support administrative processes, coordinating with other Club divisions in key processes such as budget monitoring and reporting, vendor engagement and procurement, and branding and communications.
- Support the implementation of the Programme's governance and monitoring to ensure effective execution.
- Prepare progress reports, board papers, presentations, and provide secretarial support for any committees and working groups of the Programme.
- Support the development and implementation of governance and controls to ensure effective operations of IoP, providing secretarial support for related committees and working groups as needed.
About You
You should have:
- A minimum of 4-8 years of relevant experience in social welfare, education, sports, arts, public administration, or the charity and grant-making field, or any other sectors related to the HKJC Charities Trust's funding ambit.
- Experience in dealing with different stakeholders, such as government officials, district boards, academic public bodies, and local foundations regarding philanthropic matters in Hong Kong.
Terms of Employment
The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
