Manager, Charities (Mainland and Global Programmes - Impact Capital)
Job Summary
To contribute to the Institute of Philanthropy’s purpose of working towards the betterment of societies everywhere through impactful philanthropy, by exploring and demonstrating the potential of impact capital approaches in catalysing greater quantum and quality of capital for good.
Reporting directly to Deputy Executive Manager/Senior Manager, the job holder is responsible to support the development and implementation of an impact capital strategy and related projects. The job holder will develop insights and knowledge in impact capital instruments and funding models, and build network and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local and regional practitioners and partners.
The Job
You will:
- Support end-to-end development of pilot projects (e.g., issue analysis, feasibility analysis and due diligence, design and development of financing instruments, financial modelling, impact measurement design, contract structuring and negotiation), and to compile the requisite materials for decision by the Board and Management.
- Build and manage relationship with stakeholders across public, private and philanthropic sectors, to support pilot project and field building activities in alignment with IoP’s goals. This includes establishing strong relations with external stakeholders, ranging from philanthropic funders, academic experts, policymakers, non-profit organisations, intermediaries, etc.
- Collaborate and build trust-based relationships within internal organisation, including but not limited to Investment Office, Finance, Legal, Procurement, to establish new processes and norms around managing new and diverse funding models for impact.
- Synthesise and support continuous learning across stakeholders, internally and externally, through the course of pilot project development and launch.
- Manage administrative processes, coordinate with relevant divisions in key processes including budget monitoring and reporting, vendor engagement and procurement, as well as communications and convenings.
About You
You should have:
- Minimum five years of relevant work experience in grant-making, impact investing, private investments, or strategic partnership (e.g., private equity, venture capital), ideally with previous exposure or experience with international development, social impact measurement, or impact investment.
- Strong analytical problem solving skills with the ability to effectively deconstruct issues based on quantitative and qualitative evidence gathering
- Strong financial modelling capabilities with the ability to assess impact and risk across a variety of project financing structures.
- Excellent communication skills (in English and Cantonese), with experience engaging internal and external partners on new and complex strategic topics.
- Demonstrated success working in high-pressure, complex, and evolving environments, while leading with enthusiasm and grace as part of a collaborative effort.
- Interest in the field of philanthropy, development, and economic policy; demonstrated passion for changing systems for the betterment of society.
- The highest personal and professional integrity.
