Manager, Charities (TIP: Youth Upward Mobility)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Department
This team is responsible for the governance, monitoring, and implementation of Trust-Initiated Project(s), namely Youth Upward Mobility, and/or other projects under the Youth Development and Poverty Alleviation theme.
The Job
- Assist Deputy Executive Manager and/or Senior Charities Managers to manage project(s) through proper governance, execution of project plans, collaboration with project partners to achieve project goals and deliverables, and provide regular reporting of project progress to Club's management team and Charities’ Trust. To assist in issue analysis, ideation and project design of other potential spin-off projects under YDPA theme.
- Assist in development and implementation of projects’ plans including the tasks, deliverables, schedules and resources required to reach project objectives, review the plans from time to time to meet changing operational situations and environment.
- Assist in monitoring projects’ progress to ensure all activities are within scope and budget, delivered on time, in an effective and efficient manner.
- Provide administrative support for meeting daily operational, functional, and reporting requirements, including but not limited to preparing progress and financial reports, internal procurement and audit procedures, maintaining comprehensive project documentation, providing secretariat support for Project Advisory Committee and the sub-committees/working groups of the project.
- Work with Deputy Executive Manager and/or Senior Charities Managers to design and implement stakeholders’ engagement strategy, including but not limited to liaison with industry partners, government departments, community leaders, commercial sectors, academic experts and general public, paving way for adoption in the longer run by the service sector or government for a greater impact and better sustainability.
- Support content creation for the project’s social media channels and other promotional / publicity initiatives.
- Continue personal growth and development through various activities including acquisition of field knowledge, attending training and events. Work closely with peers and support development of junior team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, such as to participate in or support knowledge sharing under YDPA theme. Engage in other projects and grant-making projects as and when required and carry out other duties as directed by the Head of Charities.
About You
- A bachelor’s degree with minimum 8 years working experience in the social welfare, psychology, public health, poverty, public administration, consulting, human resources, financial or charity and grant-making field, with knowledge and experience in youth career and life development
- Experience in dealing/working with government, NGOs, education sector and professional bodies would be an added advantage
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
