Manager, Digital Experience and Innovation (Product Owner)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Membership and Customer Excellence (MCE) Division is responsible for delivering world-class experiences and deepening engagement across all customer segments. The team oversees operations of clubhouses, racecourses, and Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs), while enhancing member and owner value propositions and promoting interest in horse ownership and equestrian sports. It leads the Club’s customer experience strategy across digital and physical touchpoints, ensuring consistency, agility, and excellence. The Division also manages data strategy and governance to build a unified view of customers, enabling more personalised and impactful interactions.

The Department

Digital Experience and Innovation Department role is to build, cultivate and expand the digital ecosystem. This involves acquiring and engaging customers, particularly focusing on acquisition and activation, wagering interest cultivation, fostering loyalty, and mitigating customer churn through the digital touch points and platforms.

 

The job holder reports to Senior Manager, Digital Experience and Innovation.

The Job

  • Supports the Senior Manager, Digital Experience and Innovation, in delivering user‑centred digital experiences across the Club’s range of digital channels, including mobile app, website, e‑commerce and cross‑media platforms.
  • Supports the Senior Manager, Digital Experience and Innovation, in gathering requirements from business users and translating them into desirable digital solutions.
  • Takes the Product Owner role, or assists the Chief Product Owner under the agility framework, to map personas, develop epics and user stories, front‑end user requirements and non‑functional requirements for the Club’s digital transformation on wagering customer journeys and digital experiences, based on EDMCE and HoDEI’s direction, input from customer behaviour research, customer feedback and wagering product teams.
  • Participates in various product development activities, including user research, needs‑finding research, conceptual validation, UX/UI design, usability testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Supports the liaison with IT and/or external vendors on requirements, specifications, timelines, development, testing and related deliverables.
  • Assesses and analyses usage behaviour and customer experience, and proposes actionable improvement plans; stays abreast of current trends and best practices in the digital industry and technology options.
  • Supports DEI’s Content Strategy and Management team and other customer‑facing teams on product launch, upgrades and Q&A.
  • Ensures compliance with the Responsible Gambling Policy (RGP) and all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club’s business.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Multimedia Design, or other relevant disciplines
  • At least 5 years of working experience in consulting, digital solutions, mobile app experience design, and technology project management
  • Relevant product owner experience within an agile team on digital product implementation; Product Owner / Manager certification under an agility framework is an advantage
  • Project management skills, with PMP certification highly preferred
  • Technical know‑how and experience in mobile front‑end development
  • Experience in UX/UI design and a strong understanding of user‑centred design
  • Strong interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (English and Chinese)
  • An excellent working attitude, self‑motivated and a team player
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum, and tools such as Jira, Confluence and Slack
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Axure) is preferred
  • Knowledge of horse racing and/or football betting is a definite advantage
  • Understanding of the latest digital trends, including gamification and artificial intelligence, is a plus
