Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Membership and Customer Excellence (MCE) Division is responsible for delivering world-class experiences and deepening engagement across all customer segments. The team oversees operations of clubhouses, racecourses, and Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs), while enhancing member and owner value propositions and promoting interest in horse ownership and equestrian sports. It leads the Club’s customer experience strategy across digital and physical touchpoints, ensuring consistency, agility, and excellence. The Division also manages data strategy and governance to build a unified view of customers, enabling more personalised and impactful interactions.
Job Summary
Develop and acquire new HNWI members to expand horse ownership pipeline and to fulfill the corporate membership intake goal.
- Develop new quality members with strong interest in horse ownership and horse racing sports to expand the horse ownership pipeline and corporate members that align with the club’s selection criteria.
- Support membership strategy projects such as but not limited to Owners & Members Acquisition Strategy, value Proposition, change of policies and implementation plans).
- Manage a portfolio of corporate members, primarily C-suite executives, and identify business opportunities throughout their membership lifecycle.
The Job
- Develop New Quality Members (Potential Horse Owners & Corporate Members)
- Strategic Sales Plan: Develop and implement strategic sales activities targeting social elites and C-level executives, focusing on achieving membership acquisition goalsc.
- Partnership: Foster partnerships with B2B partners that can support membership acquisition and align with the Club's goals and initiatives. Assess potential partnerships for compatibility and prepare effective pitches.
- Communicate Effectively: Utilize strong communication skills to understand the unique needs of potential members and articulate tailored value propositions to C-level executives.
- Conduct Research: Identify high-quality corporate C-level executives and UHNWI through in-depth research based on the Club's selection criteria.
- Account Management for Corporate Members
- Expand Portfolios: Stay updated on industry news and C-level movements to identify business opportunities within managed portfolios.
- Build Relationship: Cultivate strong connections with key decision-makers and stakeholders in the corporate sector to uncover additional opportunities for the Club.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the Corporate Members lifecycle and contribute to their progression plans, ensuring high customer satisfaction as a key relationship manager.
- Ensure Satisfaction: Act as a key relationship manager to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Support for Membership Development Projects
- Stakeholder Management: Coordinate and align work with other key stakeholders to ensure integration with other teams and achieve deliverables. Collaborate with other departments to facilitate effective change management.
- Presentation: Prepare high-quality presentation materials (for both internal and external use). Distill complex concepts into clear, visually appealing slides for easy stakeholder understanding.
- Policy: Gain an understanding of the Club’s policies and Bye-laws and identify areas for improvement to shape the membership-to-ownership journey.
- Data: Analyze data and conduct research to pinpoint areas for membership development.
- Representation: Represent HK Membership Development in meetings and strategic discussions when required.
- Others: Provide support on HKMD administrative tasks as required.
About You
- University graduate with over 8 years of experience in Business Development or Partnerships within large organizations.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating the benefits and aspirational values of the Club’s offerings to C-level executives and ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs).
- Proficient in presentation tools and MS Office, essential for crafting and delivering compelling presentations.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for analyzing complex situations and developing effective solutions.
- Strong understanding of economic trends and diverse industries to identify and capitalize on business opportunities.
- Agile and adaptable in rapidly changing environments, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Strong collaboration skills, effectively managing stakeholder relationships within complex organizations.
- Language Competency: Excellent command of spoken and written English and Cantonese. Proficiency in Mandarin and other dialects is a bonus.
- MS Office Proficiency
- PowerPoint: Ability to create engaging and visually appealing presentations. Skilled in utilizing advanced features such as animations, transitions, and multimedia integration to effectively convey complex information and enhance audience engagement.
- Excel: Basic skills in data entry, formula usage, chart creation, and PivotTables for analysis, budgeting, and forecasting purposes
