Public Affairs Officer (1-year temp contract)

Job Summary

The job holder will work with various internal departments and external parties in the implementation of communication strategies and assignments for the purpose of maximising positive media publicity for Hong Kong’s world class racing and charity organizations. The job holder will provide comprehensive support in any assigned tasks by his/her line manager including all translation / editing/ writing tasks on corporate and/or charities materials, and also event logistics and media management.

 

The Job

You will:

  • Responsible for a wide range of public affairs assignments, such as preparing of internal and/or external communications materials, writing and translation for the Club, its Charities Trust and the Institute of Philanthropy (“IoP”). 
  • Assist the team in media pitching, engagement and management at ceremony/event attended by Club/Trust/IoP representative. 
  • Assist the team in media monitoring, news summary preparation, translation of key articles and transcription of significant interviews with the aim of providing timely digest of news reports to senior management.
  • Support the team in administration functions including, document preparation , data entry,  filing and other other housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist in preparation of external/cross-divisional documents, including correspondence, press release, presentations, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Gambling Policy (“RGP”) and all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club’s business
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

 

About You

You should have:

  • University degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Experience in media or digital and social media an advantage
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Self-motivated, details-conscious, strong communication and social skills
  • Good business acumen and sensitive to public affairs and societal issues
  • A good team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight schedules
  • Excellent written (English and Chinese) and verba! communication skills
  • Be proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
