Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

 

The Division

The Special Project Department leads the integrated Conghua Racecourse (CRC) business strategy, consolidating cross-functional workstreams to build a cohesive, integrated and sustainable business model, enabling CRC to become the foundation of the Club’s long-term development in the Greater Bay Area.

 

Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for guiding the club in defining its long-term direction and developing strategies to achieve it. Key functions include identifying community service gaps, reviewing funding strategies, and planning new initiatives. The role involves analyzing internal and external factors, assessing market trends, and collaborating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to define the organization's vision and strategic goals. Additionally, the job holder will monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure adaptability in a changing environment. Effective communication and stakeholder management are essential for fostering alignment across departments.

 

The Job

  • Identify, develop, implement, and monitor new initiatives to improve the quality of life for the community.
  • Process funding applications and provide fair recommendations to the Board of Trustees for fund allocation.
  • Lead teams to manage Trust-funded and Trust-initiated projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including NGOs, government departments, and academic institutions, to execute projects effectively.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships to enhance collaboration and project impact.
  • Support the professional development of team members and enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Contribute to the promotion and publicity of the Trust's charitable initiatives to strengthen the Club's image.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and outcomes to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop guidelines to enable consistent recommendations for the Board of Trustees' consideration.
  • Provide direction in the strategic planning and evaluation of initiatives to align with the Club's vision and mission.

 

About You

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, preferably familiar with the Club's operation.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant managerial experience in charity, philanthropy, or related sectors.
  • Familiarity with relevant Government policy bureaux/departments and experience in liaison work.
  • Well-experienced in multi-task project management and planning.
