Senior Manager, Charities (Institute of Philanthropy)

The Department

Reporting to the Co-Secretary-General (Strategy and Planning) of the Institute of Philanthropy ("loP"), the job holder supports the end-to-end development of a strategic knowledge, thought leadership and convening platform on philanthropy for loP, from concept development, operating model and business case, to making grant recommendations to the Board and implementation.

The Job

  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of loP's core operations, including contributing to strategy development and supporting budget planning and financial management. Provide recommendations to Management throughout the development process, from concept development to preparing board papers and ongoing management
  • Manage flagship research initiatives focused on regional and global philanthropy, including the Commission for Asian Philanthropy and research collaborations with renowned global universities and industry leaders
  • Support the identification of strategic partners, assist in conducting due diligence and assessments, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic partnerships with reputable institutions to promote knowledge consolidation, generation, and dissemination on philanthropic practices and issues
  • Assist in cultivating relationships with external stakeholders such as foundations, academic institutions, governments, non - profit organizations, and expert networks, both locally and internationally
  • Organise events, multi-disciplinary forums and programmes to convene thought leaders, scholars, practitioners, policymakers and other key stakeholders for sharing knowledge and practices related to philanthropy and social impact
  • Contribute to the curation of a library of publications with regional or global value on non - profit and philanthropic topics, including articles, case studies, journals, and regular publications
  • Monitor the progress of anticipated outputs and outcomes, budget spending, and evaluation and impact assessment. Prepare regular progress reports and presentations to Management
  • Support the development and implementation of governance and controls to ensure effective operations of loP. Provide secretarial support for related committees and working groups as needed

About You

  • A Bachelor's degree with over 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with work experience in leading philanthropic organisations or world-class academic institutions in relevant fields
  • Good knowledge of philanthropic topics and practices, and network and experience in Mainland and / or global philanthropic sector strongly preferred
  • Business development competence
  • Strong project management skills
  • Events organisation and management experience
  • Strong analytical abilities and ability to apply strategic frameworks and problem-solving approaches
