Senior Manager, Charities (Research Fellowship and Scholarship Management)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Department

This team focuses on driving, developing, and implementing talent development Trust-Initiated Projects, with a special focus on research felowships and scholarship programmes in STEM, including medical and health scholarship-cum-fellowship for top talent in the Chinese Mainland and STEM early career research fellowship.

The Job

  • Manage end-to-end execution of scholarships and fellowship schemes, including promotion and application processes, assessment and selection mechanisms, set up selection committee/panel, manage panel members and key stakeholders, programme logistics, etc.
  • Design and implement comprehensive programmes for fellows and scholars, including professional and academic development support, research translation and application support, talent community platform, etc., to promote their achievement and impact.
  • Develop and implement publicity and external communications plans to establish prestige and recognition of the scholarships and fellowships schemes.
  • Build the Fellows/Scholars community through a series of regular events, convenining, and annual forums.
  • Build long-term partnerships and networks with both local and overseas top-notch universities, leading academia and subject experts (including panel members and external reviewers), NGOs, relevant Government bureaux and departments, and manage internal and external liaison and communication of all necessary processes.
  • Produce committee papers and reports on programme progress updates and board submissions.
  • Manage overall programme execution proactively, manage the performance of working partners, evaluate programme impact, and continuously review and improve the programme design and implementation.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal stakeholders, including internal teams to consolidate institutional knowledge for targeted, impactful dissemination, and other Club departments to ensure alignment and support to Club objectives.

About You

  • A Bachelor's Degree or above and at least 10 years of relevant working experience in education, research, or innovation and technology with 5 years at a senior level
  • Work experience in scholarship or fellowship scheme management, event management, and/or academic institutions will be an advantage
  • Demonstrated track record in project management and event management
  • Hands-on experience in working with counterparts in the Mainland
  • Good knowledge and network in the areas of STEM research, academia, and talent development
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with trilingual proficiency
  • Strong presence and maturity in working with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and leading a team effectively
