Senior Manager, Charities (Youth Upward Mobility)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Department
This team is responsible for the governance, monitoring, and implementation of Trust-Initiated Project(s), namely Youth Upward Mobility, and/or other projects under the Youth Development and Poverty Alleviation theme.
The Job
- Steer the Incubation Team with member composition from model schools, NGOs, programme evaluators and other co-creators of the TIP to convene thought leadership and build alignment across all Youth Upward Mobility (“YUM”) project partners to ensure successful delivery of the project.
- Oversee the design, development and implementation of the Project’s intervention including the management of “Youth-led Accomplishments”, “Slash”, “Gateway Traineeship”, “Report Card 360 and AI-powered platform” in each participating schools, programme protocols and capacity building, research and evaluation of the project and coordinate internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure successful delivery of these interventions.
- Perform the strategic portfolio management by overseeing other Trust supported strategic Youth Development initiatives to amplify impact of the TIP and other related grants. Consolidate learning insights for sharing with relevant stakeholders on a regular basis. Develop new grants as needed to actualise emerging potentials.
- Develop stakeholder engagement strategies, engage and manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and facilitate sustainable development of programme impact. Establish local and global collaborative networks to foster cross learning and amplify project’s impact. Engage government officials to facilitate impact creation and system change.
- Develop and implement project governance and controls to ensure effective execution, including managing the advisory committee, the incubation and supporting partners, and various taskforce groups.
- Monitor the progress of anticipated output and outcome, budget spending, handle budget virements and manage project evaluation and impact assessment.
- Prepare papers and compile statistical/ financial /progress report, as well as report on special situation and make recommendations to Management and/or Board of Trustees.
- Contribute towards an enhanced Club image through supporting promotional and publicity functions of Trust's
charity works. Represent the Trust in activities related to the TIP including ceremonies, and related functions as part of the ongoing monitoring process and stakeholder engagements.
About You
- Bachelor degree in a Business Management or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10-12 years’ relevant work experience, with 7 years at mid-senior level, preferably in the social welfare, poverty, public administration, consulting, human resources, financial or charity and grant-making field
- Proven track record and experience managing complex and /or large-scale projects
- Knowledge of research, evaluation and data analysis is a big plus
- Demonstrate passion, experience and insight in the changing need of the youth population
- Extensive experience in dealing with different stakeholders, such as government officials, NGOs, consultants, business, branding agencies etc.
