Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Corporate Affairs (CA) Division strengthens the strategic development and positioning of the Club as a world-class racing club and charity organisation, through engaging key stakeholders in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, and maintaining efficient and effective corporate communications.
Job Summary
As a core member of the Wagering Public Affairs Team, the primary role and responsibility of the Senior Manager is to assist Alley-Oop in carrying out effective media communications on basketball betting. This includes but not limited to leading the team to build preparedness for the basketball betting launch, develop and implement effective media strategies for a successful launch, ongoing media engagement to obtain support for optimal publicity, wagering information dissemination to the media to facilitate customer betting, reputational risk assessment on basketball information across all channels.
In addition, the job holder is required to manage the wagering public Affairs team to perform in other betting areas.
To achieve the above roles and responsibilities, the job holder should be able to work under pressure and fast changes, as well as possesses a strong can-do spirit and flexible work attitude.
The Job
- Drive strategic publicity and media planning for the basketball betting launch, ensuring strong public engagement and positioning.
- Build and maintain strong media relationships to support the basketball betting business.
- In collaboration with Alley-Oop project team, conduct assessments related to media perception, customer experience, and system impact during the launch preparation phase of basketball betting.
- Coordinate with the project team and IT teams to enhance the Media Communication System with basketball-related data and liaise with media subscribers for requirement definition, testing, and implementation planning.
- Execute the strategic communication plan tailored for basketball wagering and manage media operations and responses following the launch.
- In collaboration with Alley-Oop project team, ensure all marketing and promotional materials comply with Club standards and safety protocols, support issue response, and contribute to the development of the Target Operating Model (TOM) framework.to support the basketball betting business.
- Lead the Wagering Public Affairs Team and oversee all communications for all wagering products offered by the Club, across channels such as Retail, Telebet, digital platforms, and betting services.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sport Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time-critical tasks under pressure.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination experience.
- Willingness to work during irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational needs.
