Job Summary
The Job
- Financial Governance and Control Framework Enhancement
- Lead the ongoing enhancement of the Club’s corporate finance governance and financial control framework to ensure strong governance discipline, clear accountability, and effective oversight across finance operations.
- Strengthen internal controls by identifying, assessing, and remediating control gaps arising from reviews, audits, incidents, and stakeholder feedback, with a focus on sustainable and system-enabled controls.
- Assess expenditure management controls to ensure policy compliance, appropriate approval discipline, operational integrity, and effective risk mitigation.
- Process Simplification, Automation and Service Enhancement
- Act as a subject matter expert in finance governance, controllership, internal controls, and process efficiency, providing practical advice and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a prioritised roadmap to streamline finance and accounting processes, eliminate process inefficiencies, and improve standardisation across relevant entities.
- Lead process automation and system enhancement initiatives to strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and improve the quality, timeliness, and consistency of finance services.
- Policy Governance, Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish, maintain, and enhance finance governance structures that are aligned with the Club’s governance principles, corporate policies, and operational needs.
- Develop, update, and oversee the implementation of finance policies, procedures, and guidance notes to promote consistent application and effective compliance across the Club, Trust, and Related Entities.
- Design and implement control self-assessment and monitoring programmes to evaluate the effectiveness of key controls and support timely remediation.
- Finance Capability Building and Internal Control Awareness
- Support the development of finance-wide capability in corporate finance governance, controllership, and internal control practices through practical guidance, knowledge sharing, and targeted learning initiatives.
- Design and deliver training, workshops, briefing materials, and guidance notes to enhance Finance team members’ understanding of internal control principles, policy requirements, risk awareness, and governance expectations.
- Promote consistent application of financial controls and governance standards by translating policies and control requirements into practical tools, checklists, and examples for day-to-day finance operations.
About You
- Education Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent are preferred; a master’s degree or relevant governance, risk, control, or transformation certification would be an advantage.
- Professional Experience
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in finance governance, controllership, internal control, compliance, risk management, finance transformation, external or internal audit, or management consulting. Experience in financial policy development, control assessment and remediation, process improvement, system enhancement, or change implementation is highly desirable.
- Technical and Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical capability with experience in data analysis, exception reporting, control monitoring, and visualisation to identify risks, generate insights, and support informed decision-making. Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics and reporting tools is preferred.
- Presentation and Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present governance issues, control observations, risk assessments, and practical recommendations clearly to stakeholders at different levels, including senior management.
- Additional Skills
- Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management, influencing, and facilitation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance and business teams to drive control improvements, policy adoption, process standardisation, and sustainable change.
