Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Department
Our Catering Department manages one of the largest and most diverse catering operations in Hong Kong. We provide a wide range of catering, sports and recreation facilities for Members and their guests in three Clubhouses. In addition, both Happy Valley and Sha Tin Racecourses have numerous catering facilities used by Members, non-members and corporate organizations for a variety of functions.
The Job
- Welcome and interact with Members, finding their preferences and using detailed knowledge to gently recommend coffee or other beverages they may enjoy
- Required to prepare and serve quality coffee drinks, as well as other beverages and will be required to prepare certain basic snacks and desserts for the consumption of our Members and their guests
- Able to produce coffee products to a high level of presentation
- Communicate with Members on a daily basis, and able to confidently promote all manner of specialty and seasonal coffee offerings
- Maintain a safe, hygienic and tidy workspace and handle all relevant equipment and tools responsibly including cashiering operations via the cafe’s CPOS
- Ensure all baristas follow the appropriate coffee-making standard
- Supervise baristas, ensuring they carry out their daily work accordingly
- Maintain supplies of counter and bar beverages in line with forecast demand
- Work in an environment that allows access to dogs and ponies
About You
- A minimum of 1 year relevant (especially coffee making & knowledge) experience
- Passion for all things coffee
- Ability to keep a calm and mature demeanor at all times
- Familiar with basic coffee knowledge (such as origin of coffee, roasting & processing) and teas
- Well-versed of 2 brewing methods (including Pour over & Espresso machine)
- Is reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- An excellent communicator
- Confident and welcoming personality
- Leading by example
- Able to commit to sharing your knowledge and skills with the team
- Comfortable with working in an environment with visitations from dogs and ponies
