Senior Fitness Coach

Job Summary

The job holder will help us train top-notch jockeys to develop them into well-rounded personalities as well as accomplished riders. This involves oversight of the daily activities and welfare of apprentices during the evening and overnight hours. The job holder supports the personal, academic, and fitness development of trainees, organizes and supervises their activities, enforces hostel regulations, and handles emergencies. He/she is responsible for documenting trainee performance and serving as a liaison for morning track work. Additionally, the job holder acts as a personal coach, delivers induction programs, designs wellness activities encompassing physical, moral, and psychological support, and coordinates with external organizations for stable visits. The job holder also organizes summer activities for team building and continuous learning.

Major Tasks

  • Be in charge of the daily lives of the apprentices in the evening and throughout the night. Be on duty/stand-by duty from 4:30 p.m. till 4:30a.m. the next day.
  • Aid the Senior Programme Officer, riding instructor and curriculum co-ordinator on all aspects of the trainees' personal, academic and fitness development.
  • Organise and supervise indoor and outdoor trainee activities in the afternoon and evening.
  • Ensure that trainees comply with hostel regulations and deal with cases of emergency.
  • Document the performance and conduct of trainees in the hostel and submit a monthly written report to the Officer.
  • Act as the point of contact with stable in respect of morning track work.
  • Act as personal coach to develop trainees for career growth in the division.
  • Deliver induction program for newly recruited racing trainees, stable assistants, mainland work riders, for facilitating their development of knowledge and skill on Club required competences, and enhancing their positive attitude on work.
  • To design wellness activities for apprentice jockeys, racing trainees and mainland work riders for promoting whole personal development. The wellness activities included the following aspects: - physical education such as recruitment fitness tests, fitness training and assessment, sports science and nutrition knowledge, etc. - moral education such as ICAC talk, visit drug abuse and anti-smoking centres, community and voluntary services, etc. - psychology support such as rehabilitation program for work injured trainees, safe guarding for young trainees under 18, act as a mentor for facilitating the needs of trainees in stress and anxiety.
  • Liaise with external organisations, schools for stable visits for promoting AJS programme, training philosophy and daily life.
  • Organize summer activities program for apprentice jockeys and racing trainees to enhancing team building and sustainable learning, such as hiking, boat trip, green life.
  • Undertaking other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Education

Have a post-secondary qualification

Qualifications

Qualified fitness instructor

Experience

  • Teaching and/or sports training experience
  • Prior experience in hostel management is a distinct advantage
