The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Division

The Charities and Community (C&C) Division manages strategic planning, grant donations, impactful project initiation, community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of the HKJC Charities Trust. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.

The Job

• Oversee the design, development and implementation of the Project, including but not limited to:
  • Management of periodic reviews and reporting
  • Travel to the Mainland to discuss and monitor the implementation of the Project
  • Coordination of research and evaluation of the project, and
  • Engagement and coordination of internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure successful delivery of these interventions.
• Drive research and analysis of philanthropy landscape and issues relevant to philanthropy for the design and development of IoP.
• Identify strategic partners and conduct due diligence and assessment, and develop strategic partnerships with world-class institutions, particularly those in the Mainland, to drive knowledge consolidation, generation and dissemination on philanthropic practices and issues.
• Cultivate external stakeholder relationships with foundations, academic institutions, governments, non-profit organisations, issue expert networks etc., locally, nationally and globally.
• Monitor the progress of anticipated output and outcome, budget spending, and evaluation and impact assessment.  Prepare regular progress reports and presentations to Management.
• Develop and implement governance and controls to ensure effective execution and operations of the Project, and provide secretarial support for any related committees and working groups.

About You

• A Bachelor’s degree with over 12 years of relevant experience, with 7 years at mid-senior level, preferably with work experience in leading philanthropic organisations or world-class academic institutions in relevant fields in the Mainland.

• Proven track record and experience managing complex and /or large-scale projects

• Extensive experience in dealing with different stakeholders, such as government officials, NGOs, consultants, business, branding agencies etc.

• Good knowledge of philanthropic topics and practices, and network and experience in the Mainland and global philanthropic sector strongly preferred

• Analytical and quantitative skills, including analysis for budget management and KPI tracking

• Events organisation and management experience is a plus

• Strong analytical abilities and capability to apply strategic frameworks and problem solving approaches

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese
