Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement. With Conghua Racecourse and Greater Bay Area expansion, we’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.
The Department
The Equestrian Affairs Talent and Development Manager (EATDM) reports directly to the Head of Equestrian Affairs (HoEA). The EATDM is responsible for supporting the HoEA with the further development of equestrian activity in Hong Kong China, focussing on people, places and activity to grow participation, from grass roots level to elite sport.
The activities of the Equestrian Affairs Department (EAD) are extensive and diverse. Facilities include three public riding schools, as well as the National Equestrian Centre at Beas River and further equestrian related properties are planned. The Club support the Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong China with the management of elite sport through the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan (HKEPP), a global development programme for HKG athletes of all ages.
The Job
- Support the technical delivery of the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan (HKEPP), maximising international performance across youth and senior levels
- Work closely with the Performance Manager and project teams to coordinate programmes, athlete selection, monitoring, and world‑class support services
- Lead the HKEPP Youth Development Programme, including overseas training, competitions, and summer academies
- Provide technical expertise to key stakeholders including the Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong China (EFHKC) and Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI), ensuring effective programme delivery
- Support major equestrian development projects and equestrian displays in the Chinese Mainland
- Monitor performance trends, participation rates, and programme outcomes to inform future strategy
- Contribute technical expertise to marketing, participation initiatives, and major events (e.g. National Games, Asian Games, FEI events)
- Oversee the day-to-day relationship with key stakeholders, including the EFHKC, the Riding for the Disabled Association and the Pony Club, ensuring effective monitoring of deliverables against agreements and devising processes and projects to improve the collaborations for inclusion in future equestrian strategies
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the HoEA or senior management of the Club
About You
- An expert level of understanding and experience in international equestrian sports (such as ex-athlete, team administrator, international coach etc.).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the equestrian sports industry.
- Have at least 2 years’ experience as an administrator with proven track record.
- Significant project management experience, with a track record of thorough planning and high attention to detail.
- Preference given to a graduate in equestrian related subject.
- Be a highly skilled administrator with full computer literacy
- Should be highly numerate and skilled at budget planning
- Effective at problem solving and decision making
- Be fluent in English (both spoken and written) with excellent report writing and presentation skills
